Moses Kuria among 4 MPs removed from House committees

Date:

Moses Kuria who is one of the keen followers of the Deputy President William Ruto has been purged, alongside other members of parliaments who are rather keen on supporting the Deputy President and his agendas.

Officially, four members who are on Deputy President’s corner have been de-whipped from various National Assembly committees.

The new majority Whip, Emmanuel Wangwe who is the MP for Navakholo Constituency notified Speaker Justin Muturi of the removal of the four from committees.

MPs removed from various committees are Joyce Chepkoech(Bomet MP), Cornelly Sereme(Aldai MP), Catherine Waruguru(Laikipia MP), and of course Moses Kuria who is the member of parliament for Gatundu South which is President Uhuru Kenyatta’s background.

Moses Kuria lost his membership on the Transport, Public Works and Housing Committee while Waruguru lost her seat at the Committee on Members Services and Facilities.

Mr. Serem, on his part, was kicked out of the Trade, Industry and Cooperatives Committee and Ms. Korir lost her seat on the Labour and Social Welfare Committee.

Reportedly, Hon. Wangwe had recently written to the legislators on June 3, 2020 giving them 7 days grace period to explain why they shouldn’t be removed from the House committees.

The four MPs are the latest casualties to fall under Uhuru Kenyatta’s axe who is keen on cleaning his party, Jubilee in an effort to regain control after Deputy President was slowly but surely taking over the party incognito.

In the recent purge initiated by the Jubilee party leader, President Kenyatta, many legislators who are allies to DP Ruto have been kicked out from key positions in the government and the party.
