The police have released more details surrounding the murder of 25-year old Olympian Agnes Tirop who won the 10km Women championship title.
Agnes was found murdered at her home in Iten with stab wounds on her abdomen on Wednesday October 13.
The prime suspect in the murder is her husband Ibrahim Rotich who took off after committing the heinous act.
According to the police, the suspect left behind a confession note before fleeing to Mombasa.
In the note, Rotich opened up about his relationship with the athlete, revealing that it was full of fights.
Keiyo North sub-county DCIO Andolo Munga said that detectives have gathered overwhelming evidence implicating Ibrahim to the 25-year-old’s murder.
“The threshold of murder is overwhelming. The autopsy report and the suspect confession note together with the murder weapons have given us overwhelming evidence which posts to murder,” said Andolo.
Andolo further said that investigations have confirmed that Rotich had intentions of killing Agnes.
Rotich’s confession also concur with claims from Agnes’ friends that she was a victim of domestic violence.
Agnes was discovered dead after her father filed a missing person report on Tuesday 0ctober 12.
On the day the athlete was found dead, Rotich allegedly called Tirop’s family informing them that he had committed a crime while begging for forgiveness from God.
After the call, the family and friends of Agnes rushed to her house and on breaking in, they found her lifeless body lying in a pool of blood.
