Mngejuaje? Netizens Clash With Police Over Disturbing Viral Clip Of ‘Wajackoya’s Youngest Agent’

Date:

The National Police Service has responded to a viral clip of a minor smoking what is believed to be bhang.

According to NPS, suspicions over what the minor was smoking was confirmed by those who recorded the video.

NPS is certain that the video was recorded by adults and their conversation was centered on a manifesto of one of the presidential candidates.

“Attention of the NPS is drawn to a circulating disturbing and gross video clip on social media depicting an underage child seated comfortably smoking what may be clearly interpreted as a prohibited substance commonly known as “bhang.”

“The language used in the clip seems to confirm this suspicion, given that reference is made to an ideology propagated by a section of the ongoing politics. And of extreme concern is the fact that the act and its filming seems to be done by either an adult or adults, all unperturbed by what is transpiring,” NPS said in a statement.

The police service noted that the actions by the adults was a crime and further warned those spreading the viral clip against doing so.

“This is not only wrong and immoral, and infringing on the rights of a minor by adults, but out rightly criminal and punishable by the law. Those spreading the clip are also abetting the violation of the law and rights of the minor, and should “cease and desist” from onward transmission of the same,” the police service advised.

NPS went ahead to  advise the public not to openly engage in acts that are defiant of the law and called upon the public to cooperate with the service in the fight against illegal substances

Netizens have however felt that it was not right for police to scold those  who were sharing the viral video because even the police would not have known about such an incident if it had not been shared.

If the video wasn’t taken and circulated how would you have known what’s going on…such videos should be taken as eye opener, do not go for the videographer go for the culprits and let them take you to their sources of supply…also stop wajakoya from his nonsense,” one said.

I am sure if not sharing this could go unnoticed. I will further share if nothing happens,” said another.

George Wajackoya, the Roots party presidential candidate, promised to legalize bhang if he wins the August 9 general elections.

He intends to ensure that bhang is planted in most parts of the country for commercial purposes that will even see the country offset international debts.
