Millie Odhiambo Leaves MPs Confused After Arriving In Parliament In A Unique Dress Code

Date:

There was drama in  the National Assembly on Tuesday October 5 after Millie Odhiambo arrived in the house in a unique dress code.

The Suba North MP donned a head gear that is famously associated with the late Orie Rogo Manduli.

The look left members of the house confused as they could not easily identify her. Soy MP Caleb Kositany rose up on a point of order and raised the concern.

“Mr. Speaker there is a member who has walked in and sat where Hon. Millie Odhiambo sits. Mr. Speaker, I can’t actually identify if it is actually the member who has walked in,” Kositany said.

He went on to ask the house speaker to compel the ‘strange’ member to identify herself.

“We need to ask the member to identify herself  unless we have a stranger in the house,” he said.

Odhiambo confirmed that she was indeed the one attending the house session, stating that she was from the requiem service of the Kenya’s first female rally driver, Manduli.

“Mr. Speaker, I want to thank the honorable member for identifying me in the midst of the elegance of the headgear. Mr. Speaker, we are just from the funeral service of the late Manduli and it was an elegant affair,” Odhiambo stated.

Odhiambo also took the opportunity to celebrate the fallen hero.

“We have given her a send-off that befits her. It was colourful, it was loud. It was everything good you can imagine Mr speaker,” she stated.

Addressing the matter, Speaker Justin Muturi defended Odhiambo saying that she did not contravene any standing orders of the house.

“I believe the member was sufficiently identified by the sergeants at arms. That should be the Hon Millie Odhiambo Mabona,” Muturi stated.
