Meru Deputy Speaker Mwenda Ali has lost one of his children while he escaped death narrowly after his car was involved in a road accident at Riagacici area along the Meru-Embu-Nairobi Highway in Embu County.
The politician has been transferred to Karen Hospital where is receiving specialised treatment. Unfortunately, Mwenda lost her daughter following the tragic accident along that busy highway.
The tragic crash occurred when his Subaru Legacy collided head-on with another double cabin at Kivwe in Embu County.
Immediately after the collision, his vehicle burst into flames. Reports indicate that her daughter died instantly after the accident.
Other people on board were Mwendwa, his driver Michael Mwongera and another two-year-old girl.
The fatal accident occurred on Tuesday along the Meru-Embu Road when Ali’s Subaru Legacy collided head-on with an oncoming double cabin at Kivwe in Embu County.
“At Riagacici area it happened that one Patrick Gitonga aged 47 years was driving his M/V reg. KCZ 751R Toyota double cab from Embu General direction towards Meru and on reaching the location of the accident left his proper lane hitting an coming Subaru Forester KCX290M head on which was being driven by Michael Mwongera, 35 years old,”read part of the traffic police report.
Police said that the legislator, who was sitting in the front passenger’s seat, sustained a deep cut on the forehead and dislocated left knee. He was also complaining of chest pain.
His two-year-old daughter sustained serious internal stomach injuries and both were airlifted to Karen Hospital in Nairobi for specialised treatment.
