Comedian Jasper Muthomi alias MC Jessy has announced that he is still in the race for the Imenti South parliamentary seat.
Through social media, Jessy announced that he has decided to go for the seat independently in the August 9 General Elections.
“Sent like an arrow from a mighty man’s hand. We keep going….. Bado Tuko kwa race. Let’s do this South Imenti, 9th August it is, ” Jessy wrote.
His slogan is Kazi ianze sasa and is promising a youthful, consultative and participatory leadership.
The comedian however thanked DP Ruto for his support and maintained that he will still support him in the coming general elections.
“Thank you my Boss HE The Deputy President Dr. William Ruto for your counsel, My support For you remains Intact!!!!” he added.
Reacting to that, some of his followers said that he had wasted his chances by joining UDA as others said that he is going to lose in the elections.
“I don’t think this is wisdom @JessyTheMC. Who could be your adviser? I think whether you go to the ballot or not, Mwiti Kathara is the next MP for south imenti,” said a netizen.
“You allowed yourself to be cheated anyway it’s never too late,” another netizen encouraged him
The first time parliamentary hopeful had been forced to shelve his ambitions by DP William Ruto’s UDA in favor of Mwiti Kathaara.
While announcing that, DP Ruto said that Jessy will take a role in the presidential campaign team.
“MC Jessy (Jasper Muthomi) will join the presidential campaign team after postponing his parliamentary bid in favor of Mwiti Kathaara for the South Imenti Seat,” the DP tweeted last week.
Jessy joined UDA in January this year, saying that he made the decision after consulting widely.
“It’s now clear where the vision is heading. After many days of consultative meetings with my South Imenti people, I have officially been invited to join UDA,” Jessy said.
