Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko alleged that the Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr. Fred Matiang’i and his colleagues in the ministry are the ‘system’.
Speaking in an interview with the JKL show on Wednesday, Sonko claimed that the former Speaker Beatrice Elachi was used by the ‘system’ to cause division in the county assembly.
Questioned of who the ‘system’ is, Governor Sonko linked Interior CS Fred Matiang’i and PS Karanja Kibicho to the ‘system’.
“The people who are messing this country are ‘the system’ not the President… The ‘system’ is Matiang’i, Kibicho, and the ‘deep state’…” Sonko said.
According to Sonko, it is the security apparatus that should be held accountable for the dramatic arrest of the three senators that took place on Monday before they appeared to vote on the revenue sharing formula.
Sonko also talked on the country returning to the ‘dark days’ flashing back to a time he was allegedly pinched near his thighs with pliers.

Responding to whether he was worried he would be the next on the chopping block after changes made at the county assembly, Governor Mike Sonko said he did not care if the Members of County Assembly impeach him, stating that he would give them a ‘complete knock out’ in court.
“Do I look like I care… I would not be the first governor to be impeached,” he said.
