A 38-year-old man in California has been charged after allegedly poisoned eight homeless people with a substance ” twice as strong” like pepper spray.
William Robert Cable videotaped at least homeless people suffering seizure-like symptoms after poisoning his victims. Several people who were poisoned were hospitalized and authorities say the suspect could have targeted others.
According to the authorities, Cable laced the food with oleoresin – a substance twice as strong as the pepper spray used by the police, the gave it to the homeless people to eat.
“These human beings were preyed upon because they are vulnerable.
They were exploited and poisoned as part of a twisted form of entertainment. Their pain was recorded so that it could be relived by their attacker over and over,” said District Attorney Todd Spitzer.

According to the authorities, Cable poisoned his victims around Huntington Beach, south of Los Angeles in May.
The suspect enticed most of his victims to eat the poisoned food with beer while others were told they would be taking part in a spicy food challenge and they had no idea that the food had been tampered with.
The substance in the poison has been derived from chili plants and its the main component used pepper spray used by police.
The suspect who has been released on bail set at $500,000 and he faces eight charges of poisoning which included an elderly person and a minor.
Officers in Orange County has appealed to the members of the public to help them identify other potential victims.
