The directive by the governor is likely to further worsen the frosty relationship he had with Senator Outa who is said to be eying the Kisumu gubernatorial seat come 2022.
A letter sent to the Kisumu Senator dated October 13, 2020, claims that he had not paid rent since be occupied his Milimani residence and owes the county Sh1.7 million.

While Erick Okeyo who is the chairman of the National Water Harvesting and Storage Authority is said to owe the county government Sh5.4 million in rent arrears and was given up to October 12 to vacate the premises.
Okeyo has however moved to court seeking to stop the eviction but the case was dismissed in March and was instead ordered to pay the debt. As of June, he owed the county government Sh2.47 million which is increased at a rate of Sh60,000 per month.
The court also ordered the termination of tenancy and asked Okeyo to vacate the property immediately.
