Two Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) officers were reported missing the car they were traveling in was swept away by floods.
According to police reports the car was swept away by raging water from Ramisi River in Kwale County.
According to KRA’s Southern Regional Coordinator Lawrence Siele, the two officers were traveling to Mombasa from Lunga Lunga on Friday, November 17.
“Two KRA officers have since been reported missing after the vehicle they were traveling in was swept away by the raging floods,” stated Siele.
Area rescue officers launched search and rescue mission for the missing KRA Officials.
Their disappearance followed reports of heavy down pour in the Coastal region.
Mombasa and Kilifi Counties were majorly affected by the rains.
Addressing the press on Saturday November 18, Mombasa Governor Abdulswamad Shariff stated that the county did not have funds to deal with emergencies.
The Governor however vowed to expedite plans to safeguard Mombasa residents.
In Tana River, residents were directed to move to higher grounds due to heavy rainfall.
The coastal areas are among those listed by the Kenya Metrological Department to receive heavy rainfall.
El Nino was also set to hit the coastal areas according to the weatherman.
