KPLC Announces Token Service Resumptions

Date:

Kenya Power has announced normal service resumption in the purchase of tokens.

In a statement dated Tuesday February 13, Kenya Power indicated that a system issue had been sought out which was affecting the key service.

“Following a recent system disruption that led to delays in the processing and delivery of prepaid tokens, we are glad to inform our customers that the issue was resolved on Monday,” reads the notice.

“Customers can now conveniently buy their tokens through M-Pesa paybill no 888880.”

Kenya Power noted that as of Monday evening, it had processed and sent out all electricity tokens purchased by respective customers via M-Pesa.

Also, customers can access tokens by dialling *977# and via Mypower App at any time.

The service disruptions had left Kenyas stranded with some going for days without power.

Some lamented having purchased tokens on Sunday but they were yet to receive the return message from Kenya Power.

The delay forced Safaricom to clarify that it was not to blame after it was dragged into the delays caused by the utility firm.

“Kindly note, that the token is generated by KPLC. They are having delays with token production, kindly allow them time to resolve the issue and send the token,” Safaricom said.
