Kisumu Love Triangle: Woman Stabbed To Death For Allegedly Snatching Another’s Boyfriend

Date:

Kisumu residents were left in shock following an incident whereby a 21-year old woman was stabbed to death on Wednesday night.

According to sources, Merciline Awino was stabbed on the left part of her chest at Kasawino Market in Manyatta  by Michelle, alias Natasha who accused her of snatching her boyfriend.

It is alleged that the deceased was walking with the man claimed to be Natasha’s boyfriend at around 8 pm before she was confronted by the suspect.

Awino’s friend, Laura Otieno, said that she saw the trio arguing shortly before Natasha drew a knife and stabbed the deceased before fleeing.

“I heard Michelle asking Merceline why she snatched her boyfriend, she thereafter, attacked Merceline and fled,” claimed Laura.

Awino was rushed to the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital but she succumbed to the knife wounds at 2am on Thursday.

Confirming the incident, Kisumu East Sub-County Police Commander James Musyimi said a search for the suspect is ongoing, and that the 21-year-old man who was being fought over is assisting with investigations.

Merceline’s body was moved to the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Hospital’s morgue.
