Dramatic Twist As Kasaine Tells Court Jowie Borrowed His Gun And Shot Himself After Monica Kimani’s Death Was Announced

Date:

The murder case involving former Citizen Television journalist Jacqueline Maribe, and her ex boyfriend Joseph Irungu alias Jowie took a dramatist at Milimani high court.

One of the witnesses Brian Kasaine told court that Jowie shot himself following an argument with co-accused Maribe.

Kasaine, who was Jacque Maribe’s neighbor at Royal Park estate in Lang’ata, said owie appeared disturbed days after news of Monica Kimani’s death broke out.

The witness told court that Jowie called him via whatsApp at 2am on the 20th of September requesting for paraffin to burn some things.

“I was asleep with my wife, when his call woke me up. He enquired if I had paraffin in my house. I asked him why he needed the paraffin, and he said there were things he wanted to burn,” Kasaine said.

Pictures of the items Jowie borrowed paraffin to burn outside Maribe’s house at night were also shown in the court.

The witness said that Jowie later went on to shoot himself, reportedly protesting being evicted from Maribe’s house.

“Irungu was lying down and he was bleeding I secured the firearm from the house, then I went and now took him to the hospital,” Kasaine said.

During a cross examination by the defense lawyers Katwa Kigen and Hassan Nandwa, counsel for Maribe and Jowie respectively, Kasaine told the court that Jowie had borrowed his gun.

Kasaine admitted that he had given Jowie a pistol for practicing, after the latter had asked of it.

“I cannot tell whether it was my gun that was used in the shooting. The bullets were different from mine, and they had no serial numbers or any writings,” said Kasaine while answering queries from the defense lawyer Hassan Nando.

The court was also told that there were 28 unlabeled rounds of ammunitions that were found in the compound, alongside a firearm that was spotted in a pool of blood. This had happened after Jowie had shot himself on the right side of his shoulder.
