Kirinyaga Governor, Anne Waiguru has been impeached by MCAs on Tuesday, June 9 in Kirinyaga County.
Waiguru has been unanimously removed as the Kirinyaga Governor by 23 MCAs who voted for her removal with only four members abstaining while 4 others were absent.
Earlier, chaos erupted before the vote after two MCAs Anthony Munene (Karumandi ward) and Nominated MCA Lucy Njeri —who are allies of Governor Waiguru— were removed from the proceedings.
The County speaker, Anthony Gathumbi who confirmed Waiguru’s impeachment said, “I can, therefore, confirm that the vote has met the two-thirds requirement to decide on this question. The I’s have it,”
The motion of impeaching Waiguru was filed by Mutira Ward MCA, Hon. David Kinyua Wangui.
