Kipchumba Murkomen Forced To Flee From His Marakwet Backyard As Locals Turn Hostile(Video)

Elgeyo Marakwet senator Kipchumba Murkomen’s meet the people tour in Marakwet West turned dramatic after a group of people declined to listen to him.

According to a 30-second video clip that has been shared on social media, The senator was chased away from the unidentified area even before he could alight from his car with the bold ones scribbling some words on the rear windshield of the Toyota Landcruiser.

“Kwendaa Kabisa! Azimio! Tolgos,” the locals chanted.

It is however not clear if it was actually Murkomen who was in the vehicle but one of the persons attempted to come out but was forced to immediately lock the door as the chants got louder. The driver was forced to act quickly by speeding off before the events turned chaotic.

On Sunday, through his social media sites, Murkomen announced that on Monday he would be meeting people at Kapsowar ward in Marakwet West.

The senator is seeking to defend his seat on a UDA ticket. He will be facing the Elgeyo Marakwet’s sitting governor Alex Tolgos who will be vying under a Jubilee ticket. Tolgos is serving his final term as a governor after being elected in 2013 and 2017 respectively.
