King Kaka has narrated how the illness that left him fighting for his life and made him lose lots of Kgs began.
The Wajinga Nyinyi hit maker disclosed that the illness began just as a common sore throat after a holiday in Mombasa.
“We had gone to Mombasa for a holiday and I developed a sore throat after a week. IÂ felt so much pain every time I tried to swallow saliva. The sore throat was so bad and since I could not take oral meds they gave me antibiotics through injections. After that, I became better, I was given antibiotics for five days. I would be injected four times per day 6 am, midday, 6 am and midnight. I had to drive myself every day to get the jabs,” the rapper narrated.
Speaking in a YouTube interview with Nana Owiti, King Kaka said that the sore throat came back after a few weeks.
“The sore throat ikaisha 2-3 weeks later the sore throat came back and we started seeking advice from our doctor friends. My sense of taste disappeared. My skin became abnormally smooth,” King Kaka said.
He began losing weight and would sweat profusely especially during the night.
“I never realized how bad it was until I started losing weight. I lost weight from 85-68. My lips started chipping, I started coughing and sweating at night. I would sweat like someone who was playing football,” he said.
According to Nana, this was around June and July when the weather was cold.
“We would change the pillowcase so many times, His t-shirts would be so wet. It was around June July and it was super cold. He also used to have a tumbler to put spit on because he used to have so much saliva and it was laced with mucus. In a day that tumbler would get filled. He also had one in the car,” Nana revealed.
A number of tests were conducted on King Kaka including TB tests but none of the came positive.
“All the tests we did came negative. I did a chest X-ray and we were told there were traces of pneumonia. We were so desperate. One day I had trouble breathing, my voice became high pitched. When the TB results came they were negative and I was very disappointed. I had lost so much weight that I would feel pain if I sat down for too long,” Kaka said.
The rapper who is still on the road to recovery, in the past showed gratitude to his wife Nana for sticking with him and taking care of him during the difficult time.
