We will deal with 4 more Jubilee senators-Irungu Kang’ata warns

Date:

Jubilee party’s Majority Whip Irungu Kang’ata has disclosed that the recent bloodbath would turn to four of the seven senators who voted against the impeachment of Deputy Speaker Kithure Kindiki.

Kang’ata disclosed that the process of reconstituting the committees headed by the four would commence as soon as Monday, May 25.

“On Monday, I will be continuing with my work as a Chief Whip which includes reconstituting committees. There are some senators who defied my order to support that motion.

“I had written a letter to each and every senator urging them to support the party,” the Murang’a senator told Citizen TV on Saturday, May 23.

The senators facing the chopping board are Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei who heads the Senate Justice Committee, Bomet Senator Christopher Langat (Senate Education Committee chair), Laikipia Senator John Kinyua (Devolution Committed chair) and Kericho Senator Aaron Cheruiyot who is a commissioner at the powerful Parliamentary Public Service Commission.

Kang’ata disclosed that the purge would extend to the National Assembly where he stated that leaders who defied the party would be relieved of their duties.

“Even the National Assembly, for those top leaders or committee chairs who are not doing that which they are expected to do to ensure the legacy of President Uhuru Kenyatta is engrained in this country, are also going to be purged,” he continued.

Kindiki’s ouster came just days after two high ranking Ruto allies Kipchumba Murkomen and Susan Kihika got kicked out of the Majority Leader and Majority Whip positions respectively.

Kindiki was impeached as the deputy speaker of the Senate on Friday, May 22, after 54 senators voted to support his removal in the motion that was moved by Kang’ata.

In his last address before the ouster, Kindiki termed the accusations raised against him as baseless.
“In my struggle with the powers of darkness in the past one week, I rejoice in my tribulations. Harbouring hate against them would work in their favour,” he stated.

In the National Assembly, chairman of the Budget and Appropriations Committee Kimani Ichung’wah, Majority Whip Benjamin Washiali and his deputy Cecily Mbarire and Majority Leader Aden Duale is also reportedly facing the chopping board.
