Kiambu Man Murdered By Friend Following An Argument Over Motorbike Fare

21 year old man died on the spot after being stabbed on the neck by his friend following an argument that arose between them.

Michael Mukami met his death after arguing with his friend Daniel Waithera over who was to pay fare after a motorbike ride.

According to Directorate of Criminal Investigations, the two friends had been picked early in the morning by a motorbike rider before the incident.

“The suspect identified as Daniel Waithera, 25, killed his friend, 21, after an argument over who was to pay for fare after a motorbike ride. According to the motorbike rider Stephen Mwango, he had picked the two at around 5:30am, at Gikambura market in Kikuyu, Kiambu County,” reads a statement by DCI.

On reaching their destination, they started arguing before the suspect dashed to his house and returned with a sharp knife.

“However upon arrival at their destination in Muthangari, the two pillion passengers started arguing on who was to pay for the ride. The suspect then dashed to his house and came back wielding a sharp knife,” DCI said.

Waithera is said to have stabbed Mukami on the left side of his neck and immediately escaped the crime scene.

“The shocked motorbike rider notified police officers based at Kikuyu police station, who immediately launched a manhunt for the suspect,” DCI further said.

The suspect is currently under police custody and will be arraigned for murder.

In a separate incident, a 38-year old man is lucky to be alive after surviving an attack by armed assailants at around 11.30pm.

James Chomba was on his way home before he was accosted by two thugs outside Rongera apartments in Kinoo, Kiambu County.

The thugs ordered Chomba to lie down but he defied the order and instead chose to run for his dear life.

“Outfoxed, one of the thugs opened fire and shot him, the bullet head entering the chest through the left side and exiting on the right,” DCI said.

“As the thugs staged their cowardly escape, the area chief who got wind of the attack immediately called our officers based at Kikuyu Police Station, who rushed to the scene,” DCI added.

The victim was rushed to M.P Shah Hospital for treatment and is currently out of danger since the bullet head had not touched any vital internal organs.
