Kenyans narrate ugly experiences they have had working with celebrities

Date:

To many Kenyans, celebrities are divine, unadulterated and many times are beyond reproach. In fact, many Kenyans view the celebrities which include politicians, as role models.
But beneath the facade of high-end living and the near-perfect image they portray to the public, most celebrities as some Kenyans found out are full of chicanery, pretense, and are downright cruel.
In a chat through one of Facebook’s popular page, Kenyans who have worked for celebrity/politicians in Kenya, highlighted their experiences that will shock you.
Here are some of the experiences:
Monic Miano:  Those persons are very arogant I used to work at certain joint pale junction as an hostess/ supervisor the celebs that used to come there hata salams, they ignore you wen you go to atleast welcome him or her anakukagua from head to toe then anapita until his or her order is late or billing is late that’s the only time we mattered, and rudeness nayo
I thank God I have always kept my peace
I will never forget such persons,I even used to wonder how they treat their hsehelps bcz even waiters and waitresses used to literally refuse to serve such characters and we understood

Wanjeri Nderu- Musembi: I worked for a certain celebrity who later joined government. He had hired me to come up with a campaign concept for HIV targeted at truck drivers. 6 months of hard work with lots of to and Fro. He never paid me. Every time I went for payment he was always on the phone. Alikufa na payment yangu after selling the idea to gava.
Ruwaida Ibrahim Nyakado: Wat I know is they love freebies.. Their Gram stories are all all about Oohh thank you so n so for the free package…
W’amie Mwesh Mwende; Start by investigating how churchill treats his comedians. And how they are paid peanuts for a show taking millions
Victoria Nduta Kagema: I hv never forgotten one gospel artist who once told me we can’t share apples they are meant for the rich unless she buys me two bananas. Hadi waleo sijawai mforgive and I can’t view or even listen to her stuff.
Nyakio MoneyCar: Akothee when it comes to payment of suppliers she is something else. If she wants to insult me am ready no problem. A colleague had to withdraw his events supplies from her after she used them for months and has refused to pay. Ni krimino

Loise Cruz Banks: You’ll be exited to meet them , even host them. But when it comes to pay they turn out to be something else. One celebrity visited our organization used our space, lights and few helphanders (watu wa mkono) from 8am to 2pm. Feeling exited something good will come out of it.. celeb aliingia kwa gari vile amechoka. We had to strike Hadi hio crew yake ikachanga lunch.. bad experience
Derrick Odhiambo: So I happened to drive an MP in his reelection bid wueh.
We would leave the house at 7am with a cup of tea and 2 slices of bread.
Driving the whole day with stops to give out cash, note that we were not allowed to queue for the money by the PA.
So our drives ended earliest 11pm what awaited us for supper was ugali that had dried up and sukuma wiki cooked the highschool way.

Painfully when the job ended

Felix Otieno Odhiambo

never paid me

Mpaka wa leo from 2017 bado nangoja malipo, I don’t envy working for VIPs.
Min Hawi: Maskini the ones I’ve met in clubs
Taking free drinks and listing all the famous people they apparently know
Hiyo Maisha Haina raha
Wycliffe Geataro Winds: Hehe… who saw sijui jesus wa kabi ‘whatever the name’ bill board…Half of it is covered with sponsors and free packages,,,they only want to receive not give…wacha wakufie kwenda ukoooo!!!!
Kry St Een: One Mr so took 4 jackets for a shoot from a boutique of my friends. Never paid and the vid was a hiiit. Mark u hesy a gospel artist. What’s wrong with people though
?Gladys Kanini: I worked for a politician and it was hell on Earth.Matusi left right and center.
Hoi Polloi

Remember those times in Westlands?

Nyar Okuyu: A friend told me, alienda kuomba kazi ya kufua Lang’ata, walikuwa wengi kwa gate ya estate, a woman came n picked her and another lady.Kupelekwa kwa nyumba, kumbe Ni kwa a local actor, he’s famous anajulikana. Because of the excitement, akaita yule celeb jina kumsalimia, n she greeted him with his stage name, uweeh, yule celeb hata hakusalimika, alimwambia, ‘wachana na Mimi, fanya kile kilikuleta hapa.’ The celeb is no more, he died though.
Mwi Haki: Nothing as painful as watching a celebrity pastor on TV living large and always speaking on how to get out of debt while they owe you money that you know they’ll never pay. More painful when everyone else worships the ground they walk on.
Charity A Oduor: I lived in a flat in south B and didn’t know a neighbor worked for a known comedian till the comedian came to look for him in the apartment. The guy had switched off his Fone, so the celebrity had no option but to drive over. I being me, was excited to see the celebrity. I ended up being the messager and up the stairs I went…. Kumba the guy had not being paid and had being locked out of his house. Celebrity chlonicles achana nayo.
Akinyi KE: Me hereAcha nirudi na pseudo, she lives in garden Estate and a news anchor. News ya saa Tatu..I threatened her akalipa half salary and I renewned my contract elsewhere am doing fine..I was told ni Tabia yake.. I feel like exposing her na bwana ya watu pia….The babydaddy Issa militant..She gave me empty promises Mara corona iko walichuja watu job income iko low ningoje.. A stingy motherfucking ass. My workmates told me ni Tabia yake niachane na yy. Am kinda exposing her. She is a kiuk…namwoneaga tu Kwa TV
uzuri najua mlango yake…she used to work for gbs TV na Luwi WA Maria akatoka uko and was transferred to this gikuyu station.. Ni celeb mono.
Aline Eva: One very popular celebrity is very uncouth and shameless, kutupa used panty liners kwa floor,na kukosa ku flash choo,..very bad behaviour,,ata room attendants ni binadamu tu..
Valety Achieng: Kenyan celebrities are very broke kama hamjui,,, ni show off mingi ndio wako nayo otherwise majority of them don’t pay their workers, debts left right center, loan kila corner
Achieng Nyakwar Obare: Ghasia ingine ilichukua viatu pair tatu ikakataa kulipa. Wewe hautawai kuwa iyo mp unatafuta every five years.
Macharia Mwihaki: A friend worked as a PA in one of the studios along Ngong’ Road. They never paid her for 4 months and decided to quit. She used to spend a minimum of 300 bob a day as fare. They have stories from here to Timbuktu when you ask for payment. But have no problem buying 5k booz daily to “motivate” artists in studio
