Kenya Power employees from Mombasa test positive for COVID-19

Three Kenya Powet employees based in Mombasa have tested positive for COVID-19.

A statement seen by this writer from the KPLC date June 2, 2020, said the aforementioned employees are currently receiving treatment and psychological support. They are currently in isolation.

“Employees working on the 1st floor of the building and the banking hall have been requested to stay at home for a period of one-week awaiting test results and health check clearance before resuming duty,” said the company MD Bernard Ngugi.

Following the three positive cases, all staff on the 1st floor of the Electricity House in Mombasa have been tested for COVID-19.

Bernard Ngugi also insisted on employees working on the first floor of the building and the banking hall to stay at home for a period of one-week awaiting test results and health check clearance before resuming duty.

“Even as we take these actions, I encourage all staff to continue adhering to the Government measures in containing the spread of the virus,” the statement read in part.

“Lastly, I also wish to reiterate our commitment to the safety and well-being of our staff and customers.”

On Tuesday, Health CAS announced that 72 more people had tested positive for coronavirus in Kenya bringing the country’s total to 2,093.
