“Kazi Ni Kuiba Pesa!” Babu Owino Claims Sakaja Is Milking Nairobi County Dry

Date:

Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja is under intense scrutiny and criticism following a recent survey that placed him at a disappointing 38th position among the 47 county governors in Kenya.

The ranking, based on development indicators and public approval, has sparked a fierce reaction from outspoken Embakasi East MP, Babu Owino.

The survey, conducted by Insight Strategists Solutions Africa (ISSA) in collaboration with City Hub Company Limited, assessed the performance of county governors across various parameters. Johnson Sakaja’s performance was measured at 33.2% in terms of public approval and 33.7% in terms of development.

Babu Owino, who is rumored to be eyeing the Nairobi governorship in the 2027 elections, didn’t mince his words when addressing Sakaja’s low ranking. The MP accused Sakaja of overseeing a county administration tainted by allegations of corruption, which he claimed had adversely affected Nairobi’s development.

“Sakaja is an embarrassment to the people of Nairobi. How can you be ranked last out of 47 counties?” Babu Owino exclaimed. He continued, “His job is to fleece Nairobians of their money and buy houses in America, London, and Dubai. In addition to that, he’s increasing taxes on Nairobians. Even dead bodies are now taxed. Nairobi is finished.”

Babu Owino’s scathing comments reflect growing dissatisfaction with the governance of Nairobi County, as the public becomes increasingly vocal about issues such as corruption, service delivery, and the overall state of the city. The MP’s strong words have ignited a debate among political observers and residents alike.

Governor Johnson Sakaja, who assumed office with high hopes and expectations, now faces the big challenge of addressing these allegations and criticisms. The survey results serve as a wake-up call for Sakaja’s administration to reevaluate its priorities and work towards fulfilling the promises made to Nairobi residents.

In the lead-up to the 2027 elections, the performance and public perception of county governors will undoubtedly play a crucial role in shaping the political landscape. Johnson Sakaja will need to take concrete steps to improve his administration’s performance and rebuild the trust of the electorate if he intends to remain a strong political figure in Nairobi’s dynamic political scene.

As the debate surrounding Sakaja’s ranking and the state of Nairobi County rages on, all eyes will be on the actions and decisions of the governor and other political leaders in the region. The future development and governance of Nairobi hang in the balance, and it is a pivotal moment for the county’s leadership to prove their commitment to its residents.
