Kate Namande, Wife Of The Ugliest Man In The World, Ssebabi, Reveals Why She Fell In Love With Him

Date:

Godfrey Baguma aka Ssebabi made headlines after being crowned the ugliest man in Uganda during the competition that was held in the 2000s.

Despite his looks, Ssebabi has been able to achieve what many people wish for in life including a happy family, with 8 children and a job to fend for his family. He is a musician, a comedian and at the same time a cobbler.

The 57-year old has been married to his wife Kate Namande for the last 28 years and when he went for the ‘infamous’ competition, she was so pleased that her husband won.

At first, people could not believe that Kate had  made up her mind to live with Ssebabi and they thought that she was insane.

The couple met through Ssebabi’s brother who saw her first, from the region where he had married. He called the record holder  to go and see for himself the beautiful woman he had seen and that is how he fell for Kate.

Kate was then just a girl. When their relationship developed, she informed her parents that she was about to get married but when they got to see who the lucky man was it was a big no for them.

“They told me that he was too ugly. We don’t want him,” she recalled in an interview with Afrimax.

She insisted that she would live with Ssebabi whether they liked or not because she had fallen deeply in love with him. They moved in together and had four children before officially exchanging vows in a white wedding.

Asked on why she was attracted to Ssebabi, Kate said that as they kept talking, their communication became perfect about everything  and she saw honesty in him. She further noted she did not love him because of money and fame.

Many guys had wanted to date her but she rejected them because of the love she had for Ssebabi. She added that she would not leave her husband even if a man with money offers to take her.

“It doesn’t matter how much money he has. I am not going anywhere,” she said.

Ssebabi was however not born a deformed child but as he grew, he developed a swelling in his head that changed its shape. Doctors from the UK visited him to see whether they could treat him and help him have a regular shape but it was not successful.
