Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has weighed in on the matter between Jimmi Wanjigi and DCI boss George Kinoti.
Kinoti is facing a four month jail term for ignoring the court on returning seven of Wanjigi’s firearms that were confiscated from his home in 2017.
The Wiper party leader has now asked Wanjigi to forgive Kinoti so as to save him from the four month jail sentence.
Kalonzo was speaking in a church service on Sunday, November 28 in Machakos which the businessman had also attended.
The former vice president offered to mediate between the two parties to find a solution so that Kinoti is not sent to jail.
“Kinoti is just a faithful servant of this republic executing his duty so I would like to intervene. You know that I am an arbitrator, I will call you with Kinoti so that you can forgive each other so that he can continue with his work,” Kalonzo said.
He also acknowledged Kinoti’s great work while saying that he should continue with his investigative work at the agency.
“I want to ask you one thing Jimi. There is one man named Kinoti who has helped in arresting thieves. I know his matter is in court because you want to commit him to jail,” Kalonzo added.
He warned Wanjigi that his difference with the DCI boss will taint his image considering the fact that he will be vying for presidency in the coming general elections.
According to Kalonzo, a person who is fit for presidency should be forgiving and tolerant because with the job, conflicts are bound to arise.
“This Jimi is dangerous. He wants to jail the DCI boss because he was ordered to return the guns and he did not. Let us talk about this. You know you are going for the presidency and if you want to rescue the country, you have to have a forgiving heart,” Kalonzo advised.
The Court found Kinoti guilty of contempt and asked him to surrender himself at the Kamiti maximum prison within a period of 7Â days.
The 7 days, however, lapsed on Thursday last week. The attorney general Paul Kihara filed an application seeking the suspension of the jail term.
