It is premium for motorists in Ilbisil town, Kajiado county as they are forced to part with Kshs250 for a liter of petrol despite EPRA’s recent recommendation of Kshs179 per liter.
The prices have been hiked since fuel is only available in one petrol station in the town. Videos shared online show congestion at the station with people lining up with jerry cans with hope of getting fuel. Other filling stations are said to have run out of fuel by Friday evening just a day after the new government scrapped fuel subsidy programme.
Motorists and Boda boda riders are now urging Ruto to immediately find a solution for the crisis as most travelers are now stuck in the town.
“We have a very big problem here. Petrol is now going at Kshs250 in this petrol station. There is no fuel in all the other petrol stations . All these people are relying on us and they are forced to spend the nights here. I am asking our government, especially our fellow hustler who we voted for to solve this issue. It has been worse than the food crisis,” a boda boda rider said.

A section of Kenyans have however bashed the motorists for complaining yet Ruto was busy organizing a trip abroad.
“Hustler mwenzako ako busy packing for UK/US trip bro..Ur on your own.zoea mapema, bottom up,” one said.
“It’s going to get worse before it gets better,” another added.
“Ruto will be flying to England then USA. We can discuss when he comes back,” read another comment.
The president will be leaving the country on Sunday to attend Queen Elizabeth’s funeral before proceeding to US where he will be attending the United Nations General Assembly.
