Reports emerged that Jalang’o was using his employees, Morrison Litiema and Eli Omundu to chase clout by claiming that they had stolen money from him.
Some suggested that he was looking for sympathy votes by coming up with the theft narrative.
A person, whose identity was not revealed, claimed that he had seen the duo in Jalang’o’s home in Kitale while driving a car.
Jalang’o has however come out to shut down the rumors saying that the story was real and that the authorities would not have been involved if the matter had been faked.
“That is the last thing I would ever do. I don’t clout-chase . That is not my thing. If you know me, there is no single I have clout-chased. Those are things I will never do, more so that I am running for office. It is true that Eli and Litiema stole money from my house and they left with their families. It is reported at the Kabete police station, the DCI already has it, all these people would not have been involved if they didn’t [steal],” Jalang’o said in an interview with Mungai Eve.
He added that the money that Eli and Litiema stole from his wife’s car, which he had used the previous day before the theft incident, was not campaign money as people have been saying on social media. According to him, the money was intended for a project that he had with his friend.
The matter was reported to the police as soon as possible and officers were dispatched in a bid to locate their whereabouts.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations tracked Litiema and Eli and established that they were on their way to Bungoma.
Jalang’o however said that they reached out on Monday June 13 and he had personally spoken to them. The case is still under the authorities but he refused to reveal the exact amount of money that was stolen saying that, “I don’t want to put myself at risk but they stole a lot of money.”
Recently, the Lang’ata parliamentary hopeful had expressed intentions of wanting to take back Eli and Litiema in case they surrendered but that has now changed although he has forgiven them.
“I really don’t understand, I just need to sit down with them and ask them what really happened but then again I will forgive them but I don’t think I can ever have them at work anymore. I discussed it with a few friends, I was willing but when you talk to people that is when you realize that this is the biggest betrayal ever,” Jalang’o said.
