Passengers using flights on the Kisumu-Nairobi busy route have everything to smile for, due to the resumption of Fly540 flights on the route.
The famous flight company had withdrawn from taking flights to the lakeside city last year due to the ravaging Covid-19 pandemic that almost brought the country’s economy to its knees.
This news comes at the right time for both the flight company and those who will be travelling by air from Nairobi to Kisumu, because the route has since been dominated by other companies. This means that there will a lot of competition from different companies for customers.
Kisumu- Nairobi route is considered to be one of the busiest routes in Kenya’s aviation sector.
A lot of people in both towns use air transport – from either of the towns – for many reasons. For example, many businessmen and women prefer using flights so that they may save time. Other reasons include people who use air transport to attend conferences and even to make home visits.
Upon their resumption, which will be effected as from 1st. December this year, Fly540 has set a cheap fare to welcome its customers – and other new ones – back.
Passengers traveling to Kisumu from Nairobi will pay an introductory fare of Sh3, 450 for a one-way ticket depending on the date of travel.
The route has of late been dominated by Safarilink, Jambojet, and Kenya Airways. The resumption of Fly540 operations to the Lakeside city of Kisumu will mean that passengers will be spoilt for choices – and that could also mean that the other companies will have to relax their fares to lure customers to them.
Fly540 chief executive Don Smith told the press, in an interview on Tuesday, that the carrier that also plies other domestic routes such as Malindi and Lamu will deploy a Dash 8 Q 300 on the route.
