William Ruto, the Deputy President had on the morning of Friday, June 5, flown to Nandi county to seek blessings of traditional Talai clan elders from Kapsisiywa.
The Talai clan of Kalenjin community is said to be one of the clans whose elders are able to cleanse and bless leaders since days of spiritual healer Orkoiyot Koitalel Arap Samoei.
It was therefore not surprising when Ruto in the company of MPs Caleb Kositany,Wilson Kogo, Julius Melly, Samson Cherargei, governors Jackson Mandago and Stephen Sang sought their word.

According to sources, the two-hour ceremony began from 7 am and ended after elders bestowed blessings upon the second in command whom they handed a special baton.
Before he was given the leadership symbolic stick, the DP was crowned as a leader and dressed up in traditional attire befitting his status and stature.
The early dawn rituals became a subject of discussion with many internet users mocking the country’s number two for turning to tradition when he always claimed to be Godly.
“The Kenyan courts barred Musikari Kombo from participating in elections for five years for a “cleansing” ceremony akin to the one DP Ruto participated in,” ODM secretary Edwin Sifuna noted.
Others believed it was just appreciation of African culture on the side of Ruto and had nothing to do with the storm in his Jubilee Party.
“Are people saying the people from Talai clan are evil? Quickly forgetting the fact that Eliud Kipchoge the legendary of this millennium not only is one of them but comes from Kapsisiywo the same village DP Ruto visited yesterday?” argued Edwin Sigey.

Ruto has in the recent past been the centre of focus following the removal of his main foot soldiers from the Senate and National Assembly leadership including crucial committees.
Those were kicked out from Senate leadership were Kipchumba Murkomen (Elgeyo Marakwet), Susan Kihika (Nakuru) and Cherargei.
In the National Assembly, his close lieutenants Benjamin Washiali and Cecily Mbarire were ousted as majority whip and deputy whip respectively. The private affair came at a time he was being hit by the Jubilee storm.
