Diamond Platnumz’ biological father has come out to share his feelings after his son who is a Tanzanian bongo star got a nose piercing he claimed though an interview with news outlets that “He made a huge mistake, In our customs men are not supposed to have nose piercings. Those are not customs by Tanzanians but by foreigners. I was unhappy seeing him do that.”
Mzee Abdul who is yet yo reconcile with his son, shared his part of the story claiming that even though he looks forward for his son burring the hatchet and moving on into a new relationship with him, his still not happy with the move he made last week to get a nose piercing.
Abdul claims that his son ought to have purchased a pricey present for himself to demonstrate his affluence rather than obtaining a body piercing. He cited examples of several well-known Tanzanian performers who are still in demand despite having no body piercings or tattoos.
“Maybe he did that because of his wealth and to please his friends. The likes of Tupac did that but they were not Tanzanians and did not subscribe to the culture and traditions of the Mbale and Nyamwezi people. Maybe he tried to do what he pleased but I’m not pleased,” the musicians father added.
He highly regarded the custom of nose piercing to be feminine and not expect a grown male like his son to do so.
The father, who has not yet made amends with Diamond, revealed that his son disobeyed what he believed to be an African male custom. As Abdul did when he tried obtaining “tattoos” as a young man, the musician’s father worries that his son may regret getting his nose pierced.
Abdul advised Diamond to seek guidance from his seniors as well as from his classmates and friends while making decisions.
