Deputy President William Ruto yesterday claimed that some forces are plotting to reintroduce a powerful presidency through the backdoor.
Speaking in Vihiga county, Ruto said Kenyans voted overwhelmingly for the 2010 Constitution to, among others, get rid of the powerful presidency.
Speaking at various stopovers in the native county of ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi, Ruto said he was not shaken by claims that the so-called“Deep State” would influence the outcome of the August 9 elections.
“I am the Deputy President of the Republic of Kenya and I know what Deep State or System is.
They cannot scare me with such propaganda. I will beat them they way I beat them in Msambweni, Kiambaa and Juja by-elctions,” said Ruto.
The DP vowed to protect his votes saying those who are planning to rig him out were wasting their time.
He said Kenyans were now more enlightened and want a government that can transform their lives.
“Kenyans are eager to vote for leaders who have plans and agenda that can transform the lives of ordinary people,” Ruto said.
