The former prime minister Raila Odinga has responded to Moses Kuria after he claimed that he is not circumcised.
Speaking to locals in Teso land, the ODM leader referred to Kuria’s remarks as a discrimination not only against him but all the tribes that do not practice circumcision in the country and all of their generations.
“There are some people who want too bring discrimination in our country and I want to say it here in Teso land. Recently, you heard some people insulting me, that I can not lead because I have not been circumcised.
“That person is not only insulting Raila or the Luo community, but also the Teso, Turkana and all tribes that don’t get circumcised. He is saying that you can not lead neither can your child, grandchild and great grandchild, is that right?” he posed.
He however questioned how the Gatundu South leader knew that he did not undergo circumcision and why he was after his ‘transformer’.
“First, I am asking him, how does he know that Raila is not circumcised? The second question is, you are a man like Raila, why are you interested in Raila’s manhood?” the former prime minister asked.
He added that women who had married men from communities where men have not been circumcised don’t complain thus raising questions why a man would complain.
“Tesos have married Kambas, Kikuyus and Luhyas, and the women have not complained, why is a man complaining. The man who is complaining is a gay,” Raila said.
In a social media post, Kuria claimed that members of the Kikuyu community took an oath not to elect a person who is uncircumcised.
“In 1969 when you are under siege you rally 300,000 Kikuyus to take an oath-at a fee- binding them never to elect an uncircumcised person. 50 years later without calling for another oath to undo the first one, you unilaterally make an about-turn and expect the whole community to follow you,” Kuria attacked president Kenyatta for choosing Raila as his preferred successor.
