President Uhuru Kenyatta has indirectly taken a swipe at his deputy, William Ruto, for not carrying out his responsibilities as required.
In his speech, during the admission of the 100th International Cooperative Day celebration at KICC, Kenyatta said that some people have been given the mandate to serve but they have failed to do so and instead are engaging in giving promises to people on how they will sort out issues that are affecting them.
“I am saddened by some people [always complaining] someone has been there, given responsibilities. Instead of working they are out there yapping, saying they will do [these and that]. Why didn’t you do that when in position? You are making noise every time, people should stop being stupid,” Kenyatta said.

The president went ahead to praise Agriculture CS Peter Munya for the reforms that he has made at the ministry of Agriculture within the three years that he has been in government while noting that there are those who have been in power for 8 years but did nothing commendable.
He however said that the choice was upon the people who should think hard. He still went on to bash leaders who are always pointing out past flaws instead of focusing on the future.
” I am grateful for all the years we have been together and we will continue celebrating this day together as we go forward because to build a nation you build on what you have taken. You take it forward because you are given responsibility to go forward.
“You are not given responsibility to go backwards. If you are always looking at the rear view mirror you have nothing to tell people where you want to be, every time you are just looking at what people did, ooh that one took my wife…if he took your wife find another one ” the head of state said in a midst of laughter.
