Ichung’wah Threatens To Expose 2 MPs Bringing Female Companions To Parliament Bar

Date:

Kikuyu MP and National Assembly Majority leader Kimani Ichungwa took to the flow to voice concerns over a breach of protocol by two members of parliament.

During the House sitting on November 28, Ichungwa said that the two lawmakers had become notorious of bringing their companions in the area that is restricted for lawmakers.

He urged the speaker, Moses Wetang’ula, to uphold the dignity of the House by stopping the behavior, noting that the lounge and bar area are meant for “caucus meetings and lobbying” among MPs.

“I am going to relay names to your office so that you take action and should the same happen again, honorable speaker, let me just say loud and clear, I will name you in public, on the floor because that bar, for those who patronize the bar, is strictly for sitting members,” he said.

He further said that it was very uncomfortable to find strangers in the area.

“I don’t drink anything other than a soda there, but I have a few friends some of whom are looking at me salivating now, who know that occasionally I pass by there and do the necessary to quench their thirst.

“You can imagine the embarrassment you face when you walk into that bar, you are going to socialize with fellow members and you find female strangers who are aliens to us in the house,” he said.

While addressing the issue, the speaker said that  he had directed the sergeant at arms to bar visitors from accessing the area.

He further told members that they are not allowed to take guests to restaurant reserved for MPs  unless he permits it.
