Date:

Reggae must go on. And with 2022 general elections approaching fast, politicians are working hard to make sure they will not be on the losing team.

Here are the top highlights ;

It is common for your enemies to wish you all the bad things in the world. it’s not different for Opposition chief Raila Odinga who on Saturday claimed that some of his political foes wished him dead when he was taken ill a few months ago in Dubai.

The ODM leader, however, noted that he was fit as a fiddle and ready to work for the people of Kenya.

Speaking at a burial in Bondo Sub-county, Raila said his detractors even alleged that he had lost his speech and would not make a political comeback since he was dying.

ImageMr Odinga was taken to Dubai where he underwent a minor surgery following a problem with his back. He was last in Siaya early in March.

The Orange Democratic Movement leader toured Kisumu County on Friday after a five-month absence due to restrictions to curb the Covid-19 pandemic.

“As you can see I am very fine. I am very okay now and we say to them, washindwe (may they be defeated),” he said.

Imagine the tension. President Uhuru has sent Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr. Fred Matiang’i together with other Cabinet members on a 14-day working leave starting August 17.

This comes amid speculations about a looming reshuffle.

The entire cabinet including cabinet secretaries, principal secretaries, chief administrative secretaries as well as the Attorney-General will only attend to national emergencies during this period.

The directive was given by the Head of Public Service Joseph Kinyua saying the next Cabinet meeting will happen on September 3.

Sources say the President will take this time to make changes in the Cabinet in a race against time to implement his Big Four Agenda.

President Uhuru is currently focusing on the agenda that covers universal health coverage, affordable housing, food security, and manufacturing even as he near his retirement come 2022.

Things are moving fast. Within a time frame of three days, two top Amani National Congress officials have left the party leaving its party leader Musalia Mudavadi has he push his bid for presidency come 2020.

The sudden exit of the secretary-general Barrack Muluka and Eliud Owalo has left the party in limbo.

Some party members want Musalia Mudavdi to contest for the top seat while others believe he should be Deputy President William Ruto’s running mate.

ANC party leader has however expressed his frustration of being told working for William Ruto.

“We welcome Ruto as long as he supports our bid for the presidency,” he said on Thursday.

Mudavadi added that there are no differences between Ruto and President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Sources claim that Muluka and Owalo have been behind the push for Mudavadi to support Ruto.

Blow to ANC as Eliud Owalo exits: The Standard

Mudavadi’s allies had sought to change the ANC constitution to stop the party leader from becoming any presidential candidate’s running mate in the next elections.

Sources say the changes were meant to make Musalia an automatic presidential candidate.
