“I Was Too Embarrassed” Sakaja Reveals Why He Is Yet To Clear His Actuarial Science Degree At UoN

Date:

Nairobi senator Johnson Sakaja has explained why he did not graduate from the University of Nairobi with a Bachelor degree in Actuarial Science.

Speaking during an interview with Spice FM on Friday morning, the senator said that he did not complete the course because of fee constraints.

“I studied Actuarial Science at the University of Nairobi for four years. There is a document they keep spreading of students who are to be discontinued and it shows you the reason was about fees,” Sakaja said.

He however said that he was too embarrassed to go back and finish some of the pending units that hindered his graduation most likely because of his status in the society.

“It is a difficult process as there are a few units that I did not complete but the ceremony is not what confers the knowledge to you. By the time I was able to go back to class, I was too embarrassed. That is something that I will still go back and complete as it is about three to four units,” the gubernatorial hopeful explained.

Sakaja however insisted that he has a degree from Team University despite the fact that its recognition was revoked by the Commission for University Education(CUE).

CUE said it revoked the recognition of the Bachelor of Science in Management(External) degree  because Team University is not accredited to offer such a course and Sakaja failed to present any evidence proving that he had attended the course at the institution

“The requirement to run for governor you must have a degree. I have a degree, I took it, they accepted it, they accredited it and then they started playing games. I did not go there with a newspaper, I went with a certificate, with the transcripts, with everything,” he said.
