On Monday morning the senate was left into a somber mood after Makueni Senator Mutula Kilonzo stood up to illustrate the pain he endured when he witnessed his father, the late Mutula Kilonzo Snr bleed to death.
Speaking to support the motion to adjourn for the 10th time on the revenue allocation formula debate, Mutula said the House to stop its business and stand in solidarity with their members who were missing.
“When one member of this House is having trouble, it doesn’t matter what agender it is, who is winning. What matters is we are together in this House to do the business of this country,” Mutula said.
“Mr. Speaker I second this motion that we should adjourn this business until we get confirmation. Who knows while are conducting this business what is happening to Senator Lelegwe…?” He posed.
His statement came at a time when Senators, Steve Lelegwe (Samburu), and Christopher Langat (Bomet) are in police custody while Cleophas Malala (Kakamega) is said to be holed up in his house fearing arrest.
Mutula raised appoint that the senate could not proceed with the debate since their colleagues would be in danger.
“… He (Senator Lelegwe) could be found in Gong forest, they could be injecting him with something killing him slowly,” Senator Mutula said.
The further went ahead to tell the senate the pain he went through when his father former Makueni senator Mutula Kilonzo died of poisoning.
“I have seen the pain of death. I have smelt death. I have seen what happens when somebody gives you poison, you bleed and bleed so much as my father did,” Senator Mutula said sending the whole House into a quiet and sad mood.
The senator wished asked the senate to not let what his father went through to not happen to another person “because we are not conducting personal business for any person”.
Senator Mutula’s father according to reports by the government died of massive bleeding caused by high blood pressure.
the report was represented by Dr. S W Mwangi, a general medical practitioner based in Nakuru during a hearing in the inquest into Mr. Kilonzo’s death at the Machakos Law Courts.
“Mr. Kilonzo died of massive hemorrhage into the chest and cranial cavity due to significantly elevated blood pressure due to several factors including but not limited to excessive ingestion of pseudoephedrine (nasal/sinus decongestant) in combination with caffeine,” said the report according to the Daily Nation.
Pseudoephedrine is a drug usually used as a decongestant to shrink the blood vessels in the nasal passages.

Its side effects include fast or uneven heartbeat, bleeding, fever, and dangerously high blood pressure, reports.
