Ugandan president Yoweri Kaguta Museveni asked the west to keep off matters regarding his country.
Speaking during the 4th Youth Business Forum and Expo at Kololo Ceremonial Grounds, Museveni said the Westerners were misusing opportunities by advising him on matters politics and Homosexuality.
“I really feel sorry for Europeans, they have been misusing their opportunities, they come to tell me how to organise elections, I am the expert on elections, and you can call me to help you. They also tell me how to handle homosexuals, please, I know how to handle homosexuals,” Museveni said.
“Tell these Europeans to leave us alone,” he added.
He further said that he can work with the Westerners easily if they are disciplined because they can speak a similar language.
“I’m not speaking Chinese, I’m not speaking Russian, and I’m not speaking Turkish. I’m speaking English. So, I can easily work with you the Europeans if you are disciplined,” Museveni said.
The leader sparked a lot of controversies when he signed tough anti-LGBTQ laws back in May this year.
The laws, that were first passed by MPs in March, propose death sentence for anyone involved with homosexuality.
The United Kingdom condemned Musevini’s move saying it was appalled by the “deeply discriminatory” bill, which it said will “damage Uganda’s international reputation”.
US president Joe Biden on the other hand termed the action as shameful and tragic violation of universal human rights. He also said that his country was considering “sanctions and restriction of entry into the United States against anyone involved in serious human rights abuses”
