Huge Traffic In Thika Road As Police Barricade It Without Explanation

Date:

The National Police Service on Tuesday barricaded the busy Thika road /Superhighway without any explanation to the public.

According to reports reaching Sonko News Desk, the police in collaboration with the National Youth Service (NYS) have been conducting a thorough check up on vehicles entering and leaving the Nairobi Central Business District.

As a result, the exercise has led to a huge traffic snarl-up with many road users especially the motorists complaining of the abrupt exercise.

Those familiar with the incident revealed that the roadblock was erected at Garden City Mall hence worsening traffic around Roysambu area.

“Unusually high police presence on Thika Road near Safari Park. Very heavy traffic with police stopping every single car on the service lane for inspection,” Said one person.

The blocking of the Thika road came just a day after the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) offered a 60 million Kenya shilling reward for anyone that would issue information on three terror suspects that escaped Kamiti Maximum Prison.

Through a statement shared on Monday, the criminal detectives confirmed that the three terror suspects escaped Kamiti Prison past midnight at around 1 am.

“A reward of Ksh 60 million will be offered to anyone with information that may lead to the arrest of the following three terror suspects, who escaped from Kamiti Maximum Security Prison today at 1 am,”  read part of the police statement.

The three suspects who escaped Kamiti Maximum prison include Musharaf Abdalla Akhulunga aka Zarkawi aka Alex aka Shukri who was in 2012 accused of planning to attack Kenyan parliament. The man was charged with possession of explosives, ammunition and firearms. The man is from the Ekero area in  Mumias within the county of Kakamega. The reward on his head is 20 million Kenya shillings.

The second suspect is Mohamed Ali Abikar who was arrested following his participation in the Garissa University attack that occurred on 2nd April 2015. Apparently, Abikar is armed to the teeth and very dangerous according to the National Police Service.

The third suspect is Joseph Juma Odhiambo aka Yusuf who was arrested  on 21st November 2019 in Bulla Hawa, Somalia while attempting to enlist with the Alshabaab terror group.
