Jane Muthoni was busy planning on how she could send her late husband to his creator using hitmen as their four children sang and danced in the church.
On that particular day as reported by DCI, Jane Muthoni for the first time never accompanied her children to church that Sunday, something which was very unusual.
Having missed church, Jane Muthoni had gotten the opportunity to implement the evil plan which she had been secretly working on for the last six months.
On this particular Sunday, the vengeful woman swiftly delivered her husband to his killers then returned home to plan his burial!
While the children listened to the word of God in church, their mother watched in excitement as the lethal hitmen swiftly and precisely squeezed life out of their dad.
“It took just seconds to strangle Solomon Mwangi Mbuthi, the Principal of Kiru Boys High School in Kirta-ini Murang’a county.” Reported the DCI.
To demonstrate how serious they were with the mission, the killers went ahead to tie his hands with a rope then hang him on a tree inside Karakuta coffee estate in Juja, near the busy Thika Superhighway.
According to the publication, Jane Muthoni showed zero remorse or any emotions for her actions as she supervised with eyes full of hate how the contracted killers handled the lifeless body of her husband.
“And her heart seethed with uncontrollable anger and bitterness. There was no way she could tolerate the thought that her husband was having an affair with another woman. He had to die.” Reported the DCI.
“Muthoni had been married to Mwangi for more than 10 years. And they were blessed with four children-all in school. Even the thought that her children would be fatherless didn’t prick her conscience and dissuade her from her wickedness.” Added the investigative body.
Those familiar with their relationship revealed that the lovebirds shared greatest moments in their early years in marriage with Mwangi frequently sending his wife romantic messages to woo her heart in the midst of his promiscuity.
However, those love messages could not save him as Muthoni’s jealousy had reached a point of no return. At least for her, the permanent solution would be to silence her husband below six feet once and for all.
She hired the services of two hitmen who wanted 400,000 Kenya shillings to do the job but as per the rule of the game, Jane Muthoni gave a down payment of 100,000 Kenya shillings and promised to clear the balance of 300k after the job was done.
The two hitmen were called Joseph Kariuki Njuguna alias Karis and Isaac Ng’ang’a Wambui alias Gikuyu who did not disappoint as they pounced on the cash like vultures and took up the elimination role.
Even her choice of death for the husband had no dignity as she casually handed the two killers a dirty sisal rope to squeeze life out of the father of her four children which they did as ordered by their master.
However, things started falling apart for Jane Muthoni after the “job well done”. She wanted to double cross the two hitmen by not paying the other balance as agreed.
Feeling shortchanged, the hitmen had embarked on a hunting mission in a bid to harm Jane Muthoni for not honoring her side of the bargain. These plans however failed as the smart Muthoni had managed to make the two be guests of the state.
While sentencing the former girls school principal Jane Muthoni to 30 years in prison for the murder of her husband, Solomon Mwingi, the court described the murder as meticulously planned, involving two drugging attempts and one of the most brutal by any standards.
Her co-accused, Isaac Ng’ang’a, was also sentenced to 30 years in prison by the Nakuru High Court judge Joel Ngugi, with Isaac being taken to the Kamiti Maximum prison while Muthoni being sentenced to Lang’ata women’s prison.
Judge Ngugi described the murder as “one of the most brutal by all standards”.
He said Muthoni skillfully planned her husband’s murder, procured the murderers and delivered his half-dead corpse to his butcher.
“I have considered all factors and found Muthoni was a depraved, vengeful person who was committed to killing her husband,” the judge stated.
As reported by the Star, he said murder involved drugging the victim — Muthoni’s first attempt failed so she tried again — to weaken him before delivering him to his killers who bludgeoned and strangled him in a forest.
“By the time of death, the victim was too weak and he was robbed of his faculties and ability to even plead for mercy from his killers,” the judge continued.
