It has now emerged that deputy president William Samoei is working closely with the Amani National Congress (ANC) leader Musalia Mudavadi to completely destroy and bring down the One Kenya Alliance.
At the heart of the matter according to Citizen Weekly is Wiliam Ruto’s plan to wrestle control of the Luhya Nation from Raila Odinga by using Musalia Mudavadi to divide the community which has about four million voters.
The local publication added that Ruto’s fear is that if Mudavadi is not in the 2022 presidential race, then the Luhya vote bloc will lean towards the ODM leader going by the current defection of Luhya MPS in Ford Kenya and and ANC towards the Azimio as recently witnessed in the Bukhungu stadium in a rally that was organized by Mr. Atwoli.
To further woo Mr. Musalia Mudavadi, the deputy president, has further promised him the chief minister’s post in his government which is equivalent to the Prime Minister, with other sources revealing that some power barons at statehouse uncomfortable with Raila’s presidency are fully behind the power deal between Ruto and Mudavadi.
Last week, Musalia’s efforts to divide Luhyas and the One Kenya Alliance were at play when he skipped an important meeting in Naivasha which was meant to consider a report on its possible presidential candidate.
According to political analysts, Musalia Mudavadi may deny Raila Odinga votes in some Western regions, something which may lead to the possibility of a run-off after the general election.
Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, Ford Kenya leader Moses Wetangula, KANU chairman Gideon Moi and ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi were to consider the report on who among them was best suited to be their One Kenya Alliance (OKA) flagbearer.
According to Citizen weekly, the report was prepared by the technical committee that comprises a number of leaders namely Kakamega senator cleophas Malala and Nairobi senator Johnson sakaja representing Musalia, Kitui senator Enock Wambua, Mutula Kilonzo Junior and Fafi MP Abdikarim Ousman representing kalonzo Musyoka.
On the other hand, Moses Wetagula was represented by Kiminini MP Chris wamalwa and Ford Kenya organizing secretary Mandu Mandu. Finally, Baringo senator Gideon Moi was represented by Tiaty legislator William kamket.Â
The technical team had prepared a report on possible scenarios on who was best suited to take on DP Ruto and Raila Odinga in the August polls.
The committee, according to sources, had considered each candidate’s numbers, availability of resources, regional representation and negotiation skills. But Musalia Mudavadi gave the meeting a wide berth.Â
Last year, the ANC leader had proposed that a scientific method be used to select the OKA flagbearer, while Kalonzo Musyoka had insisted on the seniority and past records.
On their side, the other OKA principals argued that Musalia’s scientific method would open room for manipulation by various political figures in the country. Malala even suggested that the OKA goes ahead to contact a reputable international research company to conduct a survey on who between Musalia and Kalonzo was more popular.
Insiders further disclosed that the deep state was using Gideon Moi to frustrated Musalia Mudavadi who was 100% sure that he would be made the automatic presidential candidate for OKA.
Having done their survey, the deep state was very sure that the ANC leader leader would not play second fiddle to the wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka and that if he did, then he would not influence the Luhya votes as such.
As a result, the deep state is said to have been convinced beyond reasonable doubts that it was just a matter of time before Mudavadi dumps the One Kenya Alliance (OKA) like a hot potato.
To further add meat to Musali’a intention of completely destroying OKA, his key ally senator Malala over the weekend made it clear that Musalia had to be the OKA flagbearer or else they walk out. According to Malala, there is no way a big river could join a small river (meaning Musalia cannot support kalonzo).
