How Raphael Tuju Sunk Into Debts That Have Seen Him Lose Multi-million Karen Property

Date:

Kenyans have been left in shock after reports emerged that former Jubilee Secretary General Raphael Tuju has lost his property in Karen to auctioneers  following a High Court order over a Kshs1.6 billion loan.

Some have accused him of being unable to organize himself financially when he was out there confidently attacking the current head of state saying that he was an ungrateful person and a blackmailer.

Others have however suggested that there is some biasness going on because most of the leaders who opposed the president have sunk deeper in their court cases while his supporters seem to be getting off the hook.

Tuju’s Karen property is said to be costing Kshs150 million and sits on a 20-acre piece of land.

The politician and his children namely;  Mano Tuju, Alma Tuju and Yma Tuju, owe the bank of East African Development Kshs1.6 billion and the debt could even be more due to interest. The former Cabinet Secretary without a portfolio signed for the loan Ksh1.19 billion on April 10, 2015.

The loan was meant for the purchase of a bungalow that was built by a Scottish identified as Dr. Albert Patterson. The bungalow is said to be operating as a high end hotel.

Aside from the bungalow, part of the loan was also supposed to be used for the construction of Kshs 100 million two storey flat roofed bungalows on a “20-acre forested land dubbed Entim Sidai.”

The construction of the 12 bungalows worth Kshs1.2 billion however was not finished on the expected time thus throwing the family into the current situation.
