Homa Bay: Minors Strangled To Death, Bodies Dumped In A River

Two minors who disappeared without a trace on Friday were discovered dead on Sunday morning in Kawakungu village, Homa Bay County.

The two who have been identified as Henry Ochieng, 3, and Vanteli Otieno, 5, are said to have been murdered on Friday under unclear circumstances and their bodies dumped at River Sare.

According to the area assistant chief Faraja Malit, the suspect in murders is a stone cutter who works in a quarry belonging one of the deceased’s father.

It is alleged that he left with the two boys on Friday to go and look after animals at a grazing field but they never returned.

The families of the deceased have been looking for them since Friday only to find their bodies floating in the river on Sunday morning.

Preliminary report reveals that the minors were strangled to death. Efforts to arrest the suspect who is still at large are ongoing.

The two bodies have been transferred to Kendu Adventist Hospital Mortuary awaiting autopsy. The two were students at Achuth Primary School.

Elsewhere, a Nigerian woman was shot dead by her Italian husband after she filed for a divorce when she returned to Italy from her home country a week ago.

The incident is said to have happened on Friday at 7.30 am in a parking lot of a company where the deceased worked.

The 31-year old identified as Amenze Rita worked at Mf Mushroom, in Noventa Vicentina. She was shot four times and died instantly.

The suspect who is on the run following the incident escaped from the crime scene on  a grey Cherokee Jeep which was later found abandoned at his brother’s house.

The suspect has since been pronounced armed and dangerous.

It was further discovered that late Amenze arrived in Italy in 2017 through Libya and got married to an Italian man in 2018.
