The Ministry of Education led by Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu on Friday, October 13 released the 2024 full-year academic calendar to help parents and students prepare in advance.
According to the calendar, pre-primary, primary, and secondary schools will open for the first term on January 8, 2024, and close on April 5, 2024.
This will be under 13 weeks of intense and detailed learning.
However, they will not be locked in schools for all 13 weeks. In between the students will have a three-day half-term break from February 29 to March 3.
The first term holiday will be three weeks long starting from April 8-26.
Term Two
The second term will run 14 weeks, commencing on April 29 and ending on August 2.
However, students will break for half term between June 20-23.
The learners will afterwards go on holiday for another three weeks beginning August 5-25.
Third Term
The third term will last for nine weeks from August 26 to October 25. The final term was made short to pave the way for the Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) and Kenya Intermediate Level Education Assessment (KILEA) examinations from October 28-31.
The Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exams will afterwards run from November 4-22, amid the long December holiday that will run from October 28 to January 3, 2025.
Teachers Training Colleges
The teachers’ training colleges, on the other hand, will open for term one from January 8 to April 5, and thereafter head on holidays from April 8-26.
Term two will open on April 29 and go until August 2, with the holidays thereafter scheduled for August 5-30.
The final term will go for 11 weeks from August 26 to November 8, before the long December holidays set for November 11 to January 3, 2025.
