A Nigerian teacher who is claimed to be positive for HIV is accused of defiling girls in a school he teaches in Niger state, Nigeria.
It is claimed that the teacher, identified as Alhaji Usman Galadima, told the victims to come to school early only for him to use the opportunity to sexually abuse them.
Galadima, who is a grade 2 teacher at Central Primary School Karabonde, Borgu Local Government Area, threatened to kill the pupils if he found out that they had revealed what he did to them.
Two of the victims gathered courage and reported the matter to school’s headmistress who then forwarded the matter to the headmaster.
The two confronted Galadima who denied the allegations of having sexually abused his pupils.
By then more and more students came out to say that the teacher had also molested them something that prompted the school to conduct investigations.
Galadima still claimed innocence, but when a delegate came to the school with a report that some parents had complained of their grade 2 and 3 children being defiled, he confessed to have only abused one girl.
The local community had got wind of what was going on in the school and even stormed the school with weapons hunting for the teacher.
Lucky enough, Galadima had escaped from the school premises. The case was transferred to the Borgu Emirate Council and Galadima was promised leniency if he confessed.
He decided to change his statement and this round confessed to have only defiled two pupils.
The number of students who claimed to have been defiled turned out to be 14. They were taken to a Medical Centre where it was confirmed that indeed they had been molested. At that instance it was also discovered that the teacher was HIV positive. It is unclear whether the girls contracted the infection.
Galadima is currently on the ran as parents of the victims call upon the authorities and agencies to help them get justice.
