“Have Already Bought A House In US” Maina Kageni Opens Up On His 2022 Retirement Plan

Date:

Maina Kageni announced that he will retire from radio in early 2022 and move to US where he is set to start a new business venture altogether.

Speaking to his co-host Mwalimu Kingangi on Thursday, December 9th 2021, Maina said he plans to relocate to Miami, US where he will be running a club after he retires from radio.

Apart from being one of the highest paid radio presenters in Kenya, Maina also runs a few side hustles including; emceeing, moderating events and running advertisements.

Maina’s media career spans over 20 years, he has worked as radio presenter for Classic FM, Capital FM and also worked as TV anchor for KTN.

Maina has been running the breakfast show on Classic 105 – Maina and Kingangi in the morning show – alongside Mwalimu Kingangi also known as Churchill for the past 10 years.

The celebrated radio presenter has since revealed that he has already bought a house in the US which will be his starting point as he seeks to venture into his dream business.

“I will be living in my condo. I bought it some time back,” said Maina Kageni.

His decision to retire however is not entirely a shocker to all of his listeners as he had hinted at quitting his job at the start of the Covid-19 pandemic but later on changed his mind.

“The day I will wake up and feel that I am going to work, I will call it a wrap because for me, I’m always excited with what I’m doing. Sometimes I even wake up before my alarm. I mean, radio has nourished me for so long.”

Maina’s exit from radio will leave a big void in the industry as his morning drive on Classic FM is the most popular show in the country, trending on social media everyday.
