The police have arrested three guards of Kamothai Girls in connection to the murder of 17-year old boy from Gathiruini Boys.
Brian Mbage, a form four student, died after being subjected to a beating by a mob when he had sneaked into the Girls’ secondary school on Thursday at 4 am alongside his friends.
The three suspects were arrested after detectives finished recording statements from students concerning the incident.
The suspects will be arraigned in court on Tuesday October 26 to answer to charges against them.
The boy, in company of five of his colleagues sneaked into the Girls’ school on the said day.
“They had, under the cover of darkness, tiptoed into Phoebe House for an unknown mission, before they were spotted by some girls who immediately raised alarm, attracting the whole school,” DCI Boss George Kinoti said.
The school guards, teachers and other students rushed to the dormitory to see what was going on.
“The other five boys managed to trace their way back to their school while the deceased was cornered by the angry students and staff and beaten,” Kinoti further said.
The boy succumbed to injuries after being rushed to the Kagumo level 4 hospital.
“Crime scene detectives later visited the scene and recovered planks of wood suspected to have been used to assault the suspect,” he said.
An autopsy conducted on the deceased’s body indicated that he died of excessive bleeding on the head.
The death of the boy caused tension among the two schools, forcing the boys’ school to be shut down for some days. PCEA Gathiruini Boys is located about three kilometers from the Girls’ school.
Detectives are still looking for the other five boys who managed to escape when their colleague was cornered.
