GSU officers who threatened Kenyans through a video that went viralĀ on social media have been punished by the National Police Service.
The group which was excited to finally get out of the camp after a training that lasted 9 months recorded themselvesĀ saying that they were coming out to deal with Kenyans.
The video was recorded shortly after the 48th pass out parade at the Embakasi police training camp on Wednesday.
According to a report by the star, the officers have been sent back to the Magadi Field Training camp for retraining as punishment for their behavior.
The star further reports that some officials said that the group would likely be deployed for general duties upon graduating after weeks of retraining.
The officers are said to have been summoned for questioning at the GSU offices before being given new instructions on Thursday.
This comes as their colleagues get deployed to their new working stations. Upon graduation, most officers are sent to specialized units before being sent to general units or DCI.
PoliceĀ Spokesperson Bruno Shioso said that the officers were just excited because of their first day in service but no assumptions concerning the incident were being made.
āOf course we understand these are young officers who are full of excitement for their first day of service. It was a big day also in terms of the chief guest present but there must be a review of what happened. We canāt make assumptions,” Shioso said in an interview with the Nation.
The officers were part of the 2,502 graduates who underwent a rigorous training at the Magadi Training Camp.
It is alleged that most officers fear the Magadi camp which has been described as hell on earth. Officers undergo training at the camp test for endurance within the disciplined forces.
