President Uhuru Kenyatta’s mother, Mama Ngina Kenyatta, came out to defend him as politics of the coming general elections heat up.
Speaking in Gafangi village, Gatundu South constituency during the burial of Nelly Wanjiku, mother of Bishop Ernest Karanja, Mama Ngina weighed in on the insults that her son has been receiving from his deputy, William Ruto and his allies.
The former first lady, who was speaking in the Gikuyu dialect, said that those insulting others might have probably been raised up like that.
“Those who are insulting others, we will let them be, maybe the insults are informed by how they were raised. Let us try to love one another in our country and drive the country forward,” Mama Ngina urged the mourners.
According to her, Uhuru can not lead his community to the wrong and that is why they should follow him.
“Be aware where you are headed and your leader can not lead you on the path that is not good for you,” Mama Ngina said.
Speaking on the fallout between President Kenyatta and DP Ruto, Mama Ngina said that the fault was Ruto’s but she did not give further details concerning the matter.
“I tell you he who sits on a tree stump knows best what ants eat. He had no problem with his deputy but if your deputy would you will you bother with him or carry on?” she posed adding that, “Where he(Uhuru) shows you please follow that direction,” she said.
Reacting to her move, a number of Kenyans bashed her saying that when she said that politics is a dirty game and the elderly should not b e involved.
“Politics has remain a dirty game which requires strong heart, our elderly should not be involved,” Ezra Bii said.
“When young people fight they fight fairly meaning not to kill each other, by the end of the day they will still sit and have dinner together. Grandma keep off From this. Ruto is also a leader with equal rights just as your son uhuru. Kila mtu achiliwe ajitetee kwa wananchi. In this I blame your son for leaving his deputy behind. ,” Samuel Kiruthu said.
