Governor Wangamati’s Wife Narrates How He Secretly Joined Politics, Leaving Her In Darkness For Months

Date:

The wife of Bungoma governor Wycliffe Wangamati has revealed that the incumbent joined politics secretly without informing her.

Speaking to Citizen TV, Caroline Wangamati said that she was only made aware of the developments 8 months later.

Apparently, governor Wangamati would lie to her that he was going to his rural home to visit his mother little did she know that plans were on going for him to vie for the gubernatorial seat in the 2017 general elections.

“He did not tell me. We had an agreement that the time that our family would be okay with him joining politics was this year.  So when he decided to vie for the Bungoma gubernatorial seat he did not tell me. Every weekend he would tell me that he was going to Bungoma, to see his mum, and do other things for 8 months,” Carolyne recalled.

That was a shock for her since she was not raised in a political family. After 8 months of hide and seek, they sat down and discussed the matter and she agreed with her husband joining politics.

She however did not get the full picture of the events that led to her husband being crowned the winner of the contest since at a point, she was out of the country.

Caroline however says that her husband being a governor changed her life in two ways.

“First, there are expectation from the locals that as a governor’s wife has to meet and because there is no book that will guide you on what to do as a governor’s wife and the Kenyan government does not allocate governors’ wives funds to plan their programs, so you find that many people come to you wanting help but you are not able to do so.

“On the other hand, God  gives you a chance to do something that can help people in your county and other counties,” she explained.

Caroline is a banker by profession. Together with governor Wangamati, they are blessed with three children, two boys and a girl.
