The government has launched a crackdown on Asians who are believed to have entered the country illegally.
According to videos doing rounds in social media, the police and immigration officials raided Waiyaki Real Gardens located on Waiyaki Way where a huge number of the foreigners are being hosted.
Reports indicate that about 300 Pakistanis were being hosted in the area.
The operation follows a directive that was issued by Interior Permanent Secretary Karanja Kibicho on Wednesday.
The officials were verifying documents of the visitors to ensure that none of them had sneaked into the country.
The operation comes a day after Kenya suspended an agreement that allowed visa-free entry for passengers travelling into the country from Pakistan.
This is after it was established that there was a spike in the number of persons travelling from Pakistan enroute to Saudi Arabia and other destinations, transiting through Kenya.
“Subsequently, the government has ordered an immediate crackdown of foreigners who are in the country without proper documentation. The exercise will be undertaken by the Department of Immigration and the National Police Service,” Kibicho said.

He added that the number of foreigners entering the country will be restricted to ensure that they don’t pose a risk the country.
“Going forward, the government will restrict the number of foreigners transiting through the country to levels that do not pose a risk to Kenya’s national interests,” he added.
Days ago, the government clarified that the high numbers of Asians in the country are just tourist who had valid documentation after Kenyans raised alarm while questioning the motive behind them being in the country.
“They are tourists in the country legally and some prefer travelling and staying as families,” government spokesperson Cyrus Oguna said Monday.
The Asians are said to have entered the country through Jomo Kenyatta International Airport and were being ferried to Nairobi estates by City hoppa buses and shuttles.
