Gachagua Reprimands Kuria, Pleads With Kenyans Over Fuel Prices

Date:

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua on Sunday, September 17 called out a section of Cabinet Secretaries and President William Ruto’s advisors for talking down on Kenyans.

In a detailed statement, Gachagua boldly stated the sentiments raised by some cabinet secretaries and advisors do not reflect the official position of the government.

“The Government remains aware of and is sensitive to the challenges Kenyans are facing today; the arrogant statements by a few leaders do not, in any way, reflect the official Government position or that of President William Ruto,” Gachagua insisted.

According to the Second Command, the arrogant statements issued by a section of leaders risk tainting the good reputation of the Kenya Kwanza administration.

“I would like to remind them that although the people of Kenya did not employ them directly, they decisively elected President William Ruto, who in turn appointed them Cabinet Secretaries and Advisors.

And hence by virtue of this -they are employed by Kenyans. You Do Not address your employer with arrogance. Do so with Humility and Decorum. Kenyans, like the rest of the world, are going through difficult economic times and leaders should address them with Sensitivity and Empathy,” Gachagua stated.

He pleaded with the leaders involved to tone down and give hope to Kenyans who put them into power.

Besides that, Gachagua pleaded with Kenyans to give President William Ruto time to address the issue of fuel prices.

While attributing the sharp pump prices to cross Ksh200 a liter to global shortage, Gachagua vowed to work with his boss to find a lasting solution for Kenyans.

“With deep respect, I would like to plead with the people of Kenya to appreciate that the issue of fuel prices is a worldwide challenge. Things will get better as we move along,” Gachagua stated.

His sentiments came after Trade Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria asked Kenyans lamenting over fuel prices to drill their own oil wells.

Further Kuria stated the prices would increase by Ksh10 every month thus advising Kenyans to brace for tough times ahead.

“Global Crude Prices are on an upward trajectory. For planning purposes expect pump prices to go up by Ksh 10  every month till February,” Kuria posted on his X account.

On the other hand, President William Ruto’s economic advisor David Ndii told off concerned Kenyans indicating that the current regime did not have solutions to their problems.

“I’m not a politician. I don’t sell hope. It is going to be painful. And it may not work. Even Oxford and Havard trained doctors lose patients,” Ndii wrote.
